Maury County emergency management officials say they’ll relocate their headquarters offices this week to 302B West 7th street.
Director Mark Blackwood told the county commissions safety committee its solves their need for office space but not their long term need for an emergency operations center.
Blackwood said they had 3 to 4 people operating in a small office in the lower level of the courthouse square building.
“It will allow us to be much more efficient and do our jobs a lot better than we are able to do now,” said Blackwood. “With 3 or 4 people working in the same office, its hard to work on multiple projects at the same time.”
Blackwood also said they have recovered $31,501 from the cleanup of a tanker truck accident on I-65 involving a chemical spill.
The County commission safety committee agreed to a sheriff’s department proposal to study development of a shooting range on land near the sheriff’s department. The full commission will be asked to approve using the land for the firing range.
