Southern Fried Festival Receives Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Event Designation
Columbia’s Southern Fried Festival was recently named a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event for the month of September 2012.
Since 1985 the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) has published the Top 20 Events. The best events across the Southeast compete to receive the prestigious Top 20 designation. Through a nomination process, the Southeast Tourism Society chooses the Top 20 Events going on in the Southeast for each month of the year and publishes this list of winners quarterly. The Top 20 Events publication is sent to over 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations, AAA publications and others. STS Top 20 Events are also published on the Southeast Tourism Society web site at http://www.escapetothesoutheast.com.
“The Top 20 Events represents the best festivals the Southeast has to offer. Events that win this honor benefit from the widespread exposure and prestige that being named a Top 20 Event affords,” said Brenda Pierce, Executive Director of the Maury County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “The positive attention this designation brings to the event and to the area is something of which the entire community can be proud.”
Founded in 1983, the Southeast Tourism Society is dedicated to the promotion & development of tourism to its member states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia by sharing resources, fostering cooperation and networking. STS also provides continuing education, cooperative marketing, consumer outreach, advice and consultation, governmental affairs and other programs. The membership includes state travel offices, attractions, hotels, motels, resorts, convention & visitors bureaus, airlines, bus companies, car rental agencies, newspapers, magazines and other travel related organizations. The Maury County Convention & Visitors Bureau is a proud member of the Southeast Tourism Society.
