Early Voting Strong in Maury County

Early voting registered a strong turnout on the final day with over 5,253 people casting ballots as of the end of Tuesday . Election Day is March 6th.

Final early vote numbers show Tuesday, 1,111 voted at the two precincts in Maury County. 994 people voted at the election office on Tradewinds Drive Tuesday and 102 in a Spring Hill early voting precinct.  15 were absentee mail in votes.   735 people voted Monday.

For many, the referendum on consolidated government has taken them to the polls.  The Maury County Commission, Columbia and Mt. Pleasant have all vote to oppose the consolidation of Maury County and Columbia governments.

“We are seeing real good number,” said Election Coordinator Todd Baxter. “Today is the last day and we are seeing business pick up,” Baxter said.

Baxter said the new photo voter ID requirements have been going well and they haven’t had any problem.

4 years ago, there were 4,171 people to vote. It didn’t take long Tuesday to pass those numbers.  Again the totals this year are 5,253 voters in 3 fewer days of balloting.

Now that early voting has ended, voters can go to the election precinct in their district to vote March 6. There are 21 voting boxes across Maury County. If you have questions you can contact the Maury County election office.
