Mule Day Parade March 31 Columbia Tn

The 2012 Mule Day Parade and events are set for the week of March 26 to April 1.

The Mule Day Parade is Saturday March 31 beginning at 11am in downtown Columbia.

“It’s going to be an exciting parade this year,” said parade chairman DC Neely.  “When people talk about Mule Day, they talk about the parade.  We have a lot of visitors to the park but the parade is the first thing they talk about,” said Parade Chairman DC Neeley.

Gaither Gospel Group member, Guy Penrod (of Culleoka) is going to be the grand marshal.

“This being an election year, Governor Haslem will be here along with Senator Corker, Alexander and former Senator Frist.

For the first time in a while, the high school bands have committed to march in the parade. “We have four bands. E.A. Cox,  Central High School, Mt.Pleasant and Spring Hill.

Several hundred entries will line up for the Mule Day parade.

The theme is “Take A Ride Down Memory Lane”.   “Mule Day goes back a long way and we thought it would be fitting to Take A Ride Down Memory Lane.

The parade starts on Carmack Blvd and goes to West 7th Street. Then down West 7th Street to Columbia Academy.

The streets are marked and entries need to look for their number. “Their number is on the street,” said Neeley.
Great weather last year saw the streets full of people.  Come down March 31 and find your favorite spot for the Mule Day Parade in Columbia.
